Auditions are Terrifying, no doubt about it! You will have to go to one at least once in your singing career.
If you need a little help then look no further. Tips to help you .....
· Be prepared!
Think what is the audition for? Jazz band, soul, musical?
Pick the right material
Rock song for a rock band not Frank Sinatra song!
Make sure in the right key, right music.
Full on sheet music or chart music.
· Right look for the right job.
If you have soft voice, don’t change everything about yourself for rock band.
My fair Lady, don’t turn up looking like a rock chick.
Fit in the box? Ask yourself.
Don’t be over confident
You are auditioning them too.
Be yourself, be polite
Knowledge. Understand a little bit about company/band.
They might be flattered, and shows you are interested.
Don’t lose track of what it is about.
· Take knock backs
Very hard to do I know!
Singing is one of the hardest jobs to do. Having people say ‘no’.
Hard not to take personally.
Hopefully if you dont getthe job its not because you are a bad singer, there's a certain box to fit in.
Could be height, colour hair, voice not the right of tone!
Learn to go ok...next job...or do your own project.
If you have sung to the best of your ability and still no,
Don’t worry, have a cry! Next!
